| Education & Outreach: Clean-up in a Box |
|
Clean-up in a Box Contest is a free classroom activity that is available to all K-3rd grade teachers at LBUSD elementary schools in Long Beach. This activity brings litter-awareness to a new level on campus, and provides schools and teachers the opportunity to win some great prizes. |
Congratulations
Dooley Elementary
for winning the
2009-2010
Clean-up in a Box
Contest!
|
All K-3rd grade students at Dooley participated in their school's effort to complete the most campus litter clean-ups in the entire District – 40 in all! For their efforts, they'll receive a visit from “Aquarium on Wheels”. Dooley's clean-up report forms were used in a drawing. Mrs. Wiese's 3rd grade class won a cash prize that will help fund an educational field trip. |
|
Teachers may still host a clean-up, even though this year's Contest is over. Next year's Contest begins September 2010.
Clean-up in a Box contains everything a teacher class needs to have an on-campus litter clean-up event.
Suggested school year clean-up opportunities include:
- “Litter-free Long Beach Month” (November)
- Earth Day ( April 22, 2010 )
- After your school's carnival or other fundraising event(s)
- Existing Environmental or Storm Water Curriculum
